MovementThe rowing movement consists of different phases, which in a natural way overflow each other. At the same time it is necessary to feel the boat and the blades in an optimal way. In order to achieve this, it is very important to - in a relaxed way - step by step learn and feel all the movements in a relaxed way. The next goal is then, to let all those movements work together smoothly, so the boat can run through the water in an undisturbed way. If you succeed in this, you will have the fascinating experience of being one with your boat, the water, the speed and your movements. Because rowing is a repeating movement, it is essential to learn this sport in the right way from the very beginning. Most of the times you start out in a one-seated boat which is not too cranky. At first it looks like it is not too hard to get familiar with the basic movements of rowing. Exactly then the danger exists of thinking you already can row. On this very moment, the first mistakes sneak inside your movements and will cause great difficulties to re-adjust your stroke later on and through the years. So fine instruction is essential. Who from the first moment learns the stroke in the right way, should continue the learningprocess with a good coach or instructor, until a long and strong balanced stroke is converted into a second nature. The experienced instructor Carla Beekman is specialised in (re-)optimalise the rowing movement and stroke into detail off rowers off all levels. |
