Carla Beekman (1960) is from Amsterdam, where she studied double bass/jazzmusic at the Amsterdam Sweelinck Conservatory. Also she participated in many workshops and attended masterclasses from famous double bassplayers like Hein van de Geyn, Red Mitchell, Rufus Reid, Todd Coolman en Ray Brown. She played with various combos at parties, in many jazzclubs and also in the famous jazzcafe Alto in the centre of Amsterdam. She accompanied the Amsterdam Conservatory Big Band and the Amstel Big Band. In Europe she acted with different combos in Belgium, Germany, France, Switzerland and Austria. At the moment she is active with her Jazztones Trio, together with pianist Nick van den Bos and drummer Hans Beun, both from The Netherlands. With them she recorded a (demo)-cd. Since 2007 she yearly plays with this trio in Switzerland at Hotel Europe in the wintersportresort Engelberg.

In 2012 the trio, with new pianist Cajan Witmer, again will play in Hotel Europe from the 10th of February untill the 17th of February.
